Product Description R to L (Japanese Style). He loves her blood, but does her love her?! There is a world of myth and magic that intersects ours, and only a special few can see it. Misao Harada is one such person, and she wants nothing to do with magical realms. She just wants to have a normal high school life and maybe get a boyfriend. All that changes one day when Misao is attacked by a demon. Her childhood friend Kyo suddenly returns to save her and tend to her cuts--with his tongue! It turns out Misao is the bride of prophecy, whose blood gives power to the demon clan who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves--by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive...and decide if she likes it when Kyo licks her wounds. Volume 3: Misao is starting to trust her heart where Kyo is involved, especially after he gives her one of his primary feathers. It isn't just her first present from him, it's a magic talisman that will keep her safe when he's not nearby! Misao is elated to be able to go to school without the fear of being eaten, just like a normal teenage girl. But as her feelings for Kyo deepen, she starts to realize that as his bride she will have to leave her human life behind--including her family!

You know what? I like this story. It's so paranormal and romantic. You just can't be bored! You can't! I shudder for the gorish parts and I melt for the romantic ones. Man it's good. Ya' gotta love this stuff...I do! ^_^
STILL MY FAVORITE!!!! February 13, 2010 Karen R. Patterson (New Castle, DE) Black Bird is the best manga ever! The romance is simply breath-taking,Misao and Kyo make me want to cheer! I loved it by the second page. You get to see Kyo shirtless and wet, have mercy! And the vassles are back and hotter then ever!In this volume Misao is contemplating the possibility of losing her friends and family if she marries Kyo.I think this volume allows Kyo to break away from his typical self-confident facade and display his more sensitive, and insecure side.We also get to see how truly devoted Kyo is to Misao. Also we see some old friends frome volume 1,but I won't spoil that,we are also introduced to a super sweet new charector! I highly recomend this manga.Enjoy(chu).
Someone pinch me please! March 20, 2010 Samantha S. Putman (Arkansas) Kyo to me is sooo amazing in this Volume! He cares sooo much for Misao and the ending OOOohh Yeeaaa! I can't WAIT for Vol 4!!
Black Bird Vol. 3 August 25, 2010 Rat (Army USA) Ok, I'll admit it.....I'm addicted to this series. It just keeps getting better! If you are already on Volume 3 you know what I mean! I'm just showing my support!
Kyo + Misao and all the plots against her February 1, 2010 SJG k.a. Bookaholic (Des Moines, IA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a person can tell, if they have kept up with reading the reviews of every Black Bird book, I absolutely love this series! The short description given about this book is true, that Kyo gives Misao one of his primary feathers to keep her from the demons that surround her constantly. Misao, continuing from the last book, is deeply concerned about being spirited away. She's confused about how to choose between her family and friends vs Kyo. Volume 3 is great since the author explains things a little bit more. Some hints before you start reading the SPOILER section: you should buy this book if you want to see what Kyo looks like with his shirt off! He he he... AND... the fox demon from book 1 is back!!!
*******BEWARE!***SPOILER***ALERT!!!*******
The author starts right into the good stuff... with Kyo taking off his shirt after a heroic rescue of a high school kid! He is soaking wet, walking around in the school with his shirt off, and he gets Misao to come into the Record room in order to hug her tight to get warm! I'd love to be her in that predicament! :) Anyway, that is when he gives her his primary feather! After they come out of the record room, Kuzunoha comments on how 'happy' they must be. I have to admit, Kyo is a catch, but Kuzunoha? He is just as dazzling! For the rest of the book, plots are made in order to get Misao, and the entire time I kept wondering how the plots were going to unfold. The author truly doesn't make anything foreseeable, and that is what makes Black Bird a great series!
This book, like volume 2, does lean more toward marital consummmation, but that has been explained in the previous volumes since demons will continuously be after her until she has been taken. Kyo, being his usual conniving self, does do as much hysterically funny pressures on Misao as the last book to convince her, but in this novel, he is a bit more understanding of her feelings. In fact, in the very end of the book, she was the one who asks him, but as a series generally goes, this volume cut off the end before you could actually find out if anything actually happened.
Some extra great things about this volume: Kanoko Sakurakoji, the author, showed Kyo's true form once again (and explained about what he actually looked like since the book is in black, white, and gray- except for the cover). This explained more about his beak and why he looked the way he did in volume 1. His vassals are still around protecting Misao and doing Kyo's will (there is an extra short-story at the end of the book! Very funny!). Not only all of this, but there is more explanation about the kitsune clan- they apparently were the successful ones who obtained the brides of destiny in the past! There is a historical book talked about within volume 3, explaining about what will happen to the bride of destiny- but apparently volume 4 will actually explain about what will happen to Misao once she marries. I can't wait to find out what will happen! What will happen to her? It comes out in May, but I hope it comes out sooner!
